International Department
1. Sections:
The International Department of Beijing Chinese Business Institute is responsible for all external affairs and contacts, it includes: an executive office, overseas students section, international Chinese teachers project, Sino-Macao cooperation project, and Sino-Korea cooperation project.
2. International Projects:
Authorized by Beijing Educational Administrative Committee in 1998, Beijing Chinese Business Institute (BCBI) has approval to cooperate with foreign schools and recruit foreign experts / teachers. In the same year, BCBI started an international business project with Australia and cooperated with Holmesglen Institute (in Melbourne) to deliver Australian ELICOS courses and business courses. The courses are taught by both foreign and Chinese teachers. Graduates can qualify to study at Holmesglen Institute and Deakin University by studying at BCBI, this is a continuing project.
In recent years, as a further development of our international education program, BCBI has opened a new cooperation project with Xijing University in Korea. The courses are taught by both Korean and Chinese teachers. The graduates can qualify to work in Korean enterprises or study in Xijing University and other cooperating universities in Korea.
BCBI has also cooperated with Korean International Professional Competence Exploring and Communicating Association IOA for more than two years, and we have progressed cooperative arrangements.
3. International Cooperation Activities:
Since it’s foundation, BCBI has received many visitors and tour groups, visitors now number around twenty thousand people from Sweden, Canada, U.S., Thailand, Russia, Mongolia, Korea, Australia and other countries. We have also organized students to travel and study in Australia and other countries.
4. Domestic Cooperation
International Department is an examination centre for the Beijing Oral English Certificate (BOEC) and the Beijing English Testing System (BETS).
International Department was authorized by the University of International Business and Economics in 2003 to establish the Tong Zhou Educational Centre to recruit junior college and undergraduate students in Beijing. So far four groups have graduated. We also cooperate with other well known universities and have founded more Distance Education Centres.
BCBI is continuing further development of a project—“Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language” (TCFL) with Beijing Language & Culture University (BLCU). BCBI was authorized as an Affiliated College of BLCU and the Training Centre for TCFL opened in our Institute in 2007. The Centre aims to train domestic Chinese teachers and people who want to teach Chinese in foreign countries. After training, qualified teachers can be sent aboard. We also intend to establish more training centres for Chinese Language Teachers and Chinese Language in foreign countries.
5. Our Teaching Team
There are around 10 foreign teachers in our department now, who are from Australia, Korea and the U.S. BCBI has about 10 professional international Chinese teachers. We also have several bilingual teachers, who are mainly Chinese-Korean and Chinese-English teachers. All the specially recruited Chinese-English teachers have master’s degree and above.
